We found this old military  bus and the ideas flew! Since neither of us are able to afford a RV we decided to make our own. We are hoping to have it done by hunting season. We really liked the idea of doing it the way we want it to be. It is only 18 feet of living space, but hey when your hunting your either in your stand or blind or maybe just sneaking up on one,  thats enough room. It'll sleep 4 to 6 hunters. We'll keep you up dated!!!

The first thing was to clean out the inside. Took out all heaters, drivers seat, plywood that was water logged. Then we let the floor dry out and found out we had leaks from the outside windows. Sealed all the windows inside and out. Sand blasted the floor, that was fun. Went and got new plywood, put all that down. For the framing we got 2x2's and lots of wood screws and glue. Have to glue everything don't want squeaks. So we framed the whole thing, made covers for the wheels.Blacked out the windows. Then we went looking for a new hunting bus seat. We paid $20 for it, some guy wanted $225.00 to recover it. I think not. We did it for about  $35 and took about 4 days.(had to work too.)Heading up north to work on the hunting bus some more .Thats where we are at now..........stay tuned. I think I smell paint......................Well we found the perfect color for the inside roof. It looks so cool and comfy. Finished blacking out other side of the windows. We picked up an oven, sink and a generator. Its coming together! So Here are some pictures of our stuff we got!!!

So here we are. We went up north this 4th of July weekend. Only got to work on the hunting bus for a few hours this weekend, but we did get our closet framed, we put the wall between kitchen and sleeping area. It's looking like it might be something now!

We just got back. Got some more stuff done on the bus!Framed in the spot for the oven/stove and sink. Fridge is going across from the stove, we have our water heater and gray tank. Next time we go up we will be running plumping and propane lines!!!

Here we are again! Just got back and worked hard on the hunting bus. We wanted to sleep in it this weekend, so we decided to put up some screens. We got the drivers side done, Looks sweet! No bugs! We also got the spot for the fridge built and it fits so sweet. Who says girls can't read a tape measure..lol..Needless to say we worked so hard Saturday we didn't have enough energy to make beds up in the Bus. Still more to do but were gettin' there.

Well we were able to make it up north for a day. I found a Bus Conversions Magazine Bulletin Board, also a ton of information. I had someone from there tell me about another site..Skoolie.net  . What a wonderful bunch of folks at these sites. I f your doing a bus conversion, you need to go to these places. So we have...a Skoolie!  After a few post we found out it would be a good idea to insulate the roof. We weren't going to, thought it would be ok without, but being in Minnesota during Hunting season...it's either 70 above or 40 below, ya just never know. Well we picked up some materials and headed for the bus. We were able to get the back half done. I think I am going to sneak away this week to do more work. Hunting season will be here soon! So a few more pictures. Also Thanks, tfdfyrman, Kinda took my idea from yours! I think it will work fine. Heated up the back while we were putting it up.

So I'll have more this week!!!!

These guys have some cool stuff for your Hunting Bus or RV.

Wow what a week. I went up north and did some work. Hunting season is just around the corner!!! We got a lot done, I think we worked 12 hours a day for 5 days. Only problem, we are 45 miles to the nearest Home Depot or any other hardware store. Lots of screws and glue. We decided on 2 in. pink foam for the walls and 1 in. for the roof. When we cut our hole for the water heater we found 2 more in. of fiberglass insulation. So I think we should be good and warm. It was warming up in there as we worked. We got 1 set of bunks done. We ran out of 2x4 today so we couldn't finish the other side. Plus we need to run the water lines. Were Getting there.
Hopefully we will get to go this weekend and finish the water stuff up. We have 1 more hole to cut for the fridge. We have got through at least 20 drill bit tips and countless number of tips for the screws. We also got the other side all screened up. Now we can be bug free...well sorta.

Just got back with another update! Well we got the other bunk done, we scored a cool bathroom door...thanks again Scott. We also got our cupboards done above the sink area and got all the plumbing set.
Well I finished the roof this week and started the bathroom. I am going to order my paneling today...woohooo...We are going up this weekend for finishing touches for paint and paneling. We are going to sleep in it this weekend!! Spose to be hot. Yippy!!!

We worked all weekend on odds and ends. Ordered our paneling...will be here in a week or so. Mom and Paul were nice enough to give us a AC. it was like 90 degrees on Saturday. So we took out the back window...it was broke anyways..cut a piece of plywood to fit and slid in the AC. It worked great!! We slept in the Hunting bus this weekend. Had a storm Saturday night. Sure was nice to have metal to protect us instead of cloth of a tent. It sure does look a lot different than it did a month ago.It was very cozy to sleep in. So this weekend we'll be finishing up the bench/bed and some odds and ends...we are getting closer!!!

Wow what a weekend. I finally got the bed to slide out and legs drop down. We got the closet all done. Just have the cabinets to work on and paneling to put up. Still have a few holes we need to cut in the bus. We are getting ready to frame in the Power House. Put in the gray tank and buy fixtures and hardware for the cupboards. Gotta love the Camo paint job!!!
Will be going at it again this weekend. Very nice to sleep in!!!

So we got some more done this last weekend. Had our tile guy come and let us know what we needed. Yes we are not going to do our own tiling. We have an expert! Than we scored some really nice granite From Alex at Top-Rocks!!! Thanks Tons Alex!!! Our paneling has arrived at Menard's. Time is going so fast, we have only 18 days till Bow Hunting starts. All the little things seem to take the longest. Got down to 40 degrees last weekend. We know all the heat works in the bus.We had the inside at 90 degrees in about 10 minutes. Got to love the radiator heat. Stay Tuned we are almost done....haha so I think.
The Hunting Bus we be running soon!!

Our  Camo Paneling came in for our Hunting Bus from Menard's in Forest Lake. Thanks Folks!!! So we started putting it up. Also the granite we got from Alex at Top Rocks, it is pretty. We just had enough to do the counter top. Looks sweet. Only added 500 pounds to our bus. I also cut the hand rail up for curtain rods. So we hung our Camo curtains on them. I also my have found some Camo carpet. So now it's tile or carpet. Maybe carpet by the bunks. We found some real cool switches for our lights, so now they will work with or with out the Hunting Bus running. Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend!! Stay tuned for more!

Wow what a weekend. We glued in our granite. I also picked up some Stainless Steel from DiscountSteel.com, thanks guys! Thats for the one side of the stove close to the wall. We also got all the rest of the stuff for our tile guy. Hopefully that will be done this week. So the first part of the Hunting Bus is almost done. We are going to do the bunks in a different color, Don't want anyone to get lost in the Hunting Bus.Bow hunting starts this Saturday!!!

What a great weekend. Bow hunting season is now open! So we had to take a little time out for hunting. Didn't get anything, but saw about 9 does and a nice buck. To far away to shoot. Make sure you check out our new "Bow Hunting Page". Well with all the excitement going on we were able to set or vent for the stove. Got a lot of "little things done" The front part is almost ready. We have some of the boys stopping by this week to lay the tile. Thanks Eric and Jerry!!! I won't be there to get pictures while their doing it, but I will take pictures when we get up there. We took the protective covering off the stainless steel...wow it looks sweet. Made the kitchen come to life. The boys all came by and had to check it out. Funny how some of them are thinking and looking at buses to buy. They all want to rent it. I guess our Hunting Bus is a big hit! Stay tuned!!

We didn't do much to the bus this last weekend, bow hunting started. We did get the shower pan built and set. Cut 200 2x2 in squares for the bathroom. The boys are going to finish the tiling this week. Hope to have some more pictures soon!

What a couple of weeks this has been. My computer died. So I haven't been able to update for awhile. So how is the Hunting Bus going?? All I can say is wow, it has been colder here in Minnesota than it usually is, we have been sleeping in the Hunting Bus every weekend we are up north. We have been borrowing electricity from the boys and using a space heater. We are able to keep it at a comfortable 60 degrees. We made a new door and insulted the steps. Then we laid some carpet down, that came from a co-worker...Thanks Linda!!!. After removing the Hunting Bus door it sure opened up a lot of room. So this weekend we'll see how much warmer it is with those changes. We also got the generator in!!! Thanks So Much Guy!!!! We love you!
So this weekend were gonna test run it to see how much gas it uses and stuff like that. Wow what a difference 5 months has made. Hunting season is here, fall is here, and they say we are gonna get more snow. Ha Ha ....that's Minnesota.

Well it has been a couple of weeks since I posted anything new. Well it is Hunting Season. I will have some more pictures soon. But look around the site at the cool places I have for those great holiday gifts. See ya soon and good luck hunting!!!

Hi all!!! It has been a busy hunting season. Muzzle Just opened here in Minnesota this week. Haven't done a lot on the hunting bus. The tiling is finally done! It looks great. I will have more pictures in the weeks to follow. We have the furnace and fridge in. You should see what we have come up with for doors and skirting. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!! I also hope everyone had a great hunting season!

Hi All! it has been awhile since I have put any new pics up for yous. So this is what we finished before the snow. We have decided that we are going to use Diamond Platting for the skirting and any exterior doors we need to cover.Discount Steel has a scrap pile we can choose from, not a bad price either. We figured it would look great with Camo! It's Febraury and we are getting cabin fever. We were up north this weekend and I went out and hugged our Hunting Bus. I feel a little better...can't wait to go camping. See ya soon with more pics! Happy Bussing!!
